This week I find myself on a work trip out to Palo Alto, and with my East Coast jet lag I woke up at 4:00am this morning. With the sun just starting to peek out over the horizon after I wrapped with the gym, I found myself with a lot of time to kill before needing to report to the office. I decided to spend that time walking around Stanford's campus.

All pics taken with my Nikon Zf and 40mm f/2.0 lens.
The Oval quad

Stanford is a very charming campus indeed - high praise, coming from a snooty Northeast Ivy Graduate. As you approach campus, you pass through the university Arboretum with large Coast Live Oaks, Redwoods, and Eucalyptus trees, complete with a cacophony of morning bird calls sounding loudly. You quickly understand why a redwood is prominently featured on the University seal.

The grass quads were large, sprawling, and well manicured; the architecture was unique and beautiful; and it all snuggled nicely into the natural surroundings, which framed everything perfectly.

Luckily, my hotel was across the street from the campus. Unluckily, the temperature was an uncharacteristic ~38°F at 7am, though I did come prepared with the jacket I left NYC with.

Apparently, people in California do not wake up before the temperature approaches 50°F, because I had trouble finding a person walking around on campus. While the walk down Palm Drive was cold, the early light from the low sun and empty campus made for some good photographic conditions.

If you ever find yourself in Palo Alto for tech discussions, in between dodging EVs, VCs, and healthy food, definitely prioritize making a trip to Stanford to have a walk through and admire!
